There's always this famous line that we often hear, “You'll get what you pray for,” then after a series of prayers and devotion to God, circumstances bring you to your answered prayers.
However, we make decisions based on our feelings and what we want for ourselves most of the time. And sometimes, it is challenging for us to always put God in the center of our lives, admit it or not. But how would you know where God is?
If we recall in the Bible, Moses found him as a sacred fire in a burning bush, then God said to Moses these phrases, “I am that I am… This is my name forever, and the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation.” (Exodus 3:14-15)
In the spiritual world, I am that I am more than a name; it possesses immense power because it is a statement of God being. It means that man is a temple, and within man is a temple where you can find God. Furthermore, there's a part of you that connects you directly to the spiritual realms known as your higher self. It shares a deep connection with the Divine being, transcending our everyday consciousness.

I am that I am meaning in the Bible
When God says, “I am who I am,” you notice that “I am” is repeated twice. He is stating His name (Lord, Yahweh) – His name forever.
God states that He is the eternal one who has no beginning or end. He is real and the ultimate reality – all the happenings are according to His will, because He is the truth, and His Truth is absolute.
I am, refers to His omnipotence, omnipresence, and omniscience in and for all the time. He is constant and is in the past, the present, and the future.
It may confuse us because we live in the timeline of life, but God transcends all these timelines. Because He is God, and there are many things about Him that will never be understandable and measurable even we reach the glory.
You can see the context “I am who I am” in Exodus 3, where Moses encountered God for the first time. He is an exile from Egypt, the nation that raised him as a prince; he then renounced his status and lived with the Hebrews, of whom he belonged.
Moses married a shepherdess and protected her father, Jethro's sheep. When he took the sheep to the desert, Moses came to Horeb (the mountain of God).
He turned away, then saw the Angel of the Lord who appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. God called to Moses from the bush, then He said to him, “Do not come near; take your sandals off your feet for the place you're standing is a holy ground.”
During this exchange, Moses asks God about His name – the name he was to describe to the Israelites as the one who sent him to go to Pharaoh to bring God's children out of Egypt. Then God answered him, “I am who I am..Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, I am has sent me to you.” (Exodus 3:14)
I am that I am Hebrew Translation
I am that I am in the standard English translation of the Hebrew phrase' ehye' ăšer' ehye – meaning “I am who I am,” also “I will become what I choose to become,” “I will be what I will be, “I create whatever I create,” or “I am the Existing One.”
Ehyeh asher ehyeh is the first out of the three responses God has given to Moses when he asks about His name. Ehyeh is the first person form of hayah, meaning “to be,” and according to Hebrew grammar, it means “I am,” “I was,” and “I will be.”
The word asher is a relative pronoun whose meaning depends on the immediate context, so it can mean “that,” “who,” “which,” or “where” are all possible translations for that word.

Based on the Hebrew Bible, during the encounter of Moses and God in the burning bush, Moses asks what he is about to say to the Israelites when they ask what God has sent Him to them. Here Yahweh replies, “I am who I am,” adding, “Say this to the people of Israel that I am has sent me to you.”
It is remarkable that despite this exchange, the Israelites never asked Moses for the name of God.
The Great I am Meaning
While we have just one given name, God had many different names given to him, like Elohim, El, and Adonai, to name a few. Moreover, God describes his character in different ways in Scripture.
Here are samples of His “I am” statements: I am God Almighty, I am with you, I am Lord who heals you, I am merciful, I am the Lord who made all things, and so on the list continues.
But there's only one time He gives himself a name, where you can see it in Exodus 3. Moses is protecting his father-in-law's sheep when he sees a burning bush.
God then exchanges conversation with Moses and calls himself “the God of your father, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and the God of Jacob.”
He wanted to tell Moses that He was the God who had kept his covenant with his people. He saw the Israelites' hardships to the Egyptians for over 400 years, and He wanted Moses to go to the Pharaoh to bring His people out of Egypt.
However, one of Moses objections to the tasks was, if he goes to the people of Israel and tells people, “The God of your ancestors has sent me to you,” they will ask Moses, “What is the name of His God?” then what would be His response.
If Moses could only go to the Israelites knowing this person's name with authority and power, maybe he could deliver it well.
Here, God has revealed himself, the name he gives himself, to Moses and all the people. And this is where God said to Moses, “I am who I am” it means as if “I am sent me to you.”
There's also another explanation to these phrases; it signifies the actual being of God, his self-existence, and that he is the being of beings. Also, it denotes his eternity and unchanging nature to his faithfulness in fulfilling his promises.
It includes all time, such as the past, present, and future. It means that I am not only what I am at the moment, but I am what I have been, and I am what I shall be.
If you try to understand this, it's like God wants us to know him, but we can't fully know him until we meet him face to face. So, in those words, God expresses himself as perfect.
He gave himself a name to describe his whole existence, purpose, power, and plan.
Back to the story, so Moses continues in His excuses even after hearing the most encompassing explanation of God. But in the end, God does what he said he would do.
He did it to the Israelites, and he did the same for us.
The same God who guided Israelites is the same great I am who teaches us daily. His purpose and care for us haven't changed since the beginning.
He is the same God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Moses.
God is the Great I am; he reminds us in v15, “This is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generations to generations.” I am that I am a unique and only name that we need to remember.
I am Metaphysical Meaning
The I am is the metaphysical name of the spiritual self, as distinguished from the human self. One is governed by the Spirit and the other by personal will.
Christ and Jehovah are the scriptural names for spiritual I am. Jesus called it the father and means eternal without beginning or ending: the genuinely spiritual man God made in His image and likeness.
The I am is the center around which all man's thoughts revolve. It should lead the concept of the person I am out into the consciousness of the great, and only I am.
Man identifies himself to which he attaches his I am and to whatever he identifies himself with.
I am, as the will of God, represents man's identity. This individual consciousness, freedom to act without the dictation of anyone, the power to make or break without limitation.
I am also means seeking happiness through the sense of pleasure. However, this is sin, and in turn, you'll get sick, you're in pain, poverty, or worst, death.
You should think I am in harmony with God in terms of health, wealth, and peace.
