What comes to your mind when you hear the word November?

A cold Northern breeze and bare trees in anticipation of winter to come. Shorter days and long nights.

Hoodies and warm boots for long walks in fall leaves, crunching beneath your feet while walking down the street. A smell of freshly made bread and warm soup, feeling cozy sitting in front of the fireplace.

It is also the month of remembering all saints, known or unknown, and the souls of faithful departed in early November. Oh! And how can you forget Thanksgiving Day with the turkey dinner with your family?

November is important in Christian and Catholic traditions, where the first week of it is celebrated in honor of all the saints. The feat is called All Saints Day, celebrated annually on the 1st of November.

After All Saints Day, All Souls Day is celebrated. It is a solemn holiday in remembrance to pray and light candles for the souls of the faithful departed observed by Catholics and Christian families on the 2nd of November.

In Western traditions, Thanksgiving Day is the most essential and celebrated day, serving as the second most celebrated holiday, followed by Christmas. It’s an annual celebration every fourth Thursday of November.

Indeed, November is full of special days worth celebrating that have been part of culture and traditions for many years. Various countries and cultures celebrate November differently may it be religious or non-religious.

It is the month of feats and time for family at the near conclusion of the year. It is also a monthly observation of several awareness celebration month.

But without a doubt, November is certainly a sign of cold weather from winter and the anticipation of the most celebrated holiday of the year in the world- Christmas!

November is the 11th month of the year in the Gregorian calendar that is now in general use. It is derived from the Latin word govern,” which means nine, a sign of its position in the early Roman calendar.

Why Pray for the Month of November?

November is also called the Holy Month or the Month of Remembrance. The church commemorates and dedicates this month to the holy souls in purgatory whose feast is celebrated annually on the 2nd of November.

Catholic and Christian families pray for their departed loved ones who were called through death to eternal life. It is the time of the year when people remember their passed loved ones and pray for them.

The acts of the faithful left on earth are to assist the departed in purifying their souls. Through visiting, cemeteries, lighting candles, intercessions, and prayers, the souls of the departed are prayed for their peace, mercy, and forgiveness of their souls.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

The Our Father

New Month Prayers and Blessings

You may have been feeling heavy energies and taking heavy breaths. This is because breakdowns, restlessness, and life may have been draining you a lot lately.

It’s important to be aware and recognize what you are going through and what are the things that are weighing you down. Then, you know that you need a fresh start in life and to turn things around.

Reflect from the past month: what didn’t go well and what is not working for you. What are the things you are grateful for, and what are the decisions you are ready to make?

Declutter, deep clean, and organize your house. Your future self will surely thank you because nothing feels better than a clean space.

Let go of situations, things, job, and people that no longer serve you and doesn’t see your value—it’s time to know your worth and not settle for less! You can’t let in new things in your life if you can’t let go of the past.

It is time to conclude and have clarity and closure of what has happened for the past month. Put an end to certain things so you can start a new month and open yourself to endless opportunities!

Follow what your heart is speaking to you and set new goals you can achieve. Begin a fresh start with a clean heart, calm mind, courage, and pray to God for guidance!

As the month starts, renew your conviction in God. Live a life led by faith and not controlled by fears.

Lord God, Heavenly Father, thank you for this new month and the fresh start you gave me.

Thank you for the past month that I have been through.

Thank you for all the opportunities that have come my way.

And thank you for the challenges and learnings that have pushed me to outgrow my comfort zone and made me stronger.

Thank you for all the circumstances and people that made me realize that I needed to start a new beginning, value myself, and step out of my comfort zone to grow.

Thank you for giving me the courage to let go of all the things that no longer serve me.

I pray today for your guidance, knowledge, and wisdom as I start a new month.

Open my mind and heart to see your truth and feel your love.

It cleans my heart and eases my mind from all the destructive thoughts.

Please help me to have acceptance from all the bad decisions I have made.
