It takes something special to be a Marine, but what attributes make Marines stand out?

You might think that being a Marine Corps Officer might sound cool. But it takes a lot of willingness to fight, courage, strength, determination to defend the Nation, and dedication to win every battle.

The Marine Corps is an independent branch that serves under the Navy. They are recognized as an elite military force who are skilled in the art of warfare and winning battles.

Marines are the Nation’s first line of defense with the right knowledge, skills, and tools equipped. They are trained to build unique capabilities, physical strength, and leadership qualities.

The Marines work daily to protect the interest of the Nation and the rights and freedom of its people. They are deployed to win the Nation’s battle swiftly and aggressively in times of crisis.

Marines are trained to overcome any obstacles or challenges in whatever situations are needed. Their willingness to serve despite danger and their determination to defeat the enemy until victory is achieved.

Marines are trained and equipped to attend to any threats worldwide. Their fighting spirits are something to look up to and to be respected!

But, it would be best if you didn’t overly romanticize their resilience. There are times that they get tired and feel fear and doubts too.

And so, they needed your support even through prayers to help them unburden adversaries. Even an ordinary civilian can do so much support, whether it may be through prayers or helping them overcome spiritual warfare.

It is significant to pray for the Marines for their protection and guidance as they walk their noble path and demanding journey. You pray with them until they win every battle.

Pray for those who serve and protect! Win Battles with the Glory of God!

The Marine’s Prayer

The former marine, Col. Charles William Blyth, U.S.M.C., wrote the 200 words Marine’s Prayer. Although it is not part of any traditional ceremonies of the marines, it is widely used by the Marines.

He served for 32 years in the Marine Corps and retired in 1974. He later became the commandant of cadets at the Marine Military Academy at Harlingen, Tex. and retired a year after.

Col. Charles William Blyth received the Silver Star for gallantry in action in Korea, the Legion of Merit for service in Vietnam, and two Purple Hearts for action in Korea and Vietnam.

He is highly respectable and acknowledged for serving the U.S. county and its people.

Almighty Father, Whose command is over all

and Whose love never fails, make me aware of Thy presence

 and obedience to Thy will.

Keep me true to my best self,

guarding me against dishonesty in purpose and deed

and helping me to live so that I can face my fellow marines,

my loved ones, and Thee without shame or fear.

Protect my family, give me the will to do the work of a marine

And to accept my share of responsibilities with vigor and enthusiasm.

Grant me the courage to be proficient in my daily performance.

Keep me loyal and faithful to my superiors

and to the duties my country and the Marine Corps have entrusted to me.

Make me considerate of those committed to my leadership.

Help me to wear my uniform with dignity,

and let it remind me daily of the traditions which I must uphold.

 If I am inclined to doubt, steady my faith;

 if I am tempted, make me strong to resist;

My Rifle – The Creed of a United States Marine

The Rifleman's Creed is a part of basic United States Marine Corps doctrine written by Major General William H. Rupertus USMC (Deceased) during World War II following the attack on Pearl Harbor between late 1941 and early 1942.

    History of the Creed:

In a conversation which took place sometime early in 1942 between BGen William H. Rupertus, USMC, Commanding General, Marine Corps Base, San Diego, and Capt. Robert P. White, USMCR, Public Relations Officer of the base, the general, stated that his men must be made to understand “that the only weapon which stands between them and Death is the rifle…they must understand that their rifle is their life…it must become a creed with them.” Whereupon Capt. White suggested that the general write an editorial to that effect with the tentative title of “My Rifle is My Life.” The general, who had won the Distinguished Marksmanship Badge as a second lieutenant in 1915, liked the title but disagreed with the idea of an editorial that he considered would sound like a sermon. Instead, he felt that the rifle creed should be “something so deep, a conviction so great, a faith so lasting that no one should have to be preached to about it.”

The very next morning, the general appeared in the captain’s office with a “random scrap of paper” on which were penciled the notes which have since become the rifle creed. Capt. White’s part in the final production of the creed is best expressed in his own words: “All I did was to translate it, type it, suggest a few different word usages and add a line here and there to complete the General’s thought. My job was that of an editor; and no editor could have bettered the General’s piece in that particular.”

    The Rifleman's Creed:

This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my rifle is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than the enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will. My rifle and I know that what counts in war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, or the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit.

My rifle is human, even as I am human because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strengths, its parts, its accessories, its sights, and its barrel. I will keep my rifle clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other.

Before God, I swear this creed. My rifle and I are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life.

So be it until victory is America's and there is no enemy.
