Oshun is a supernatural entity from the Yoruba religion of West Africa. She is the youngest Orisha, a goddess serving the supreme deity Oludumare (creator of the Universe).
Oshun is the goddess of fresh water, prosperity, femininity, fertility, love and beauty. She is the protector and patroness of Osun River in Nigeria, where her devotees celebrate and honor her annually at the Osun-Osogbo Festival.

Yoruba myth suggest that her sweet and fertile waters brought back the life of the world. The human race would not exist if Oshun was not sent to the world by the supreme creator.
Despite being sweet, generous and compassionate, her essence’s embodiment is to create, sustain and destruct. She is a life force of the life cycle.

She responds to sins of people such as cruelty, carelessness and failure to honor both divine and natural world. She can bring drought by withholding rain or send flood into the land of those who disrespect her.
